Cabbage Palya | Cabbage Poriyal / Fry

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped cabbage

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon urad dal

  • 5-6 green chilies chopped

  • 1 dry red chili

  • 6-7 curry leaves

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1/4 cup water

  • Salt to taste

 

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, cumin and urad dal. Let it splutter.

  2. Add dry red chili, green chilies and curry leaves. Saute for 2-3 mins.

  3. Add chopped cabbage and mix. Next add turmeric and salt. Saute for 2-3 mins.

  4. Add water and close a lid and let it cook for 5 mins or until the water is dried off.

  5. Relish this simple south indian stir fry with chapati, roti or rice.
